Description

Also known as the ‘Perfumed Fairy Lily’, the charming golden trumpets of Chlidanthus ‘Fragrans’ radiate an extraordinary fragrance which will leave you enchanted. The botanical name comes from the Greek meaning ‘delicate flower’, yet despite only reaching 35cm their powerful perfume will float on the air to fill your garden with sweet, citrus scent. An exotic relative of the daffodil, the petite pixie-blooms bear umbels of up to 5 lemon-yellow flowers above bright green, strap like foliage. Chlidanthus ‘Fragrans’ is perfect for dotting around your home in bud vases as a long-lasting cut flower and natural scent diffuser.

Care Guide

Plant shallowly in groups, with the nose of the bulbs just above soil level.  Thrives in humus-rich, well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered position.

Space the bulbs 8cm apart.

Umbels of fragrant, star-shaped blooms are borne in June and July, on stems up to 35cm tall.

Not frost hardy – lift bulbs before winter and store in a frost-free building or apply a dry mulch to the soil in milder regions.
