Dahlia Honka Red
D4494
Description
Dahlia ‘Honka Red’ is an unusual dahlia, sweetly scented and attractive to bees, butterflies and pollinators.
Blooming from July to October, the striking flowers look quite unlike most dahlias, in that they are exceptionally delicate and airy in appearance. A starburst of slender, red velvet petals surrounds the bright yellow centre, forming simple, stylish blooms.
Cut the flowers as soon as they are open as the petals will drop soon after pollination.
Dahlia ‘Honka Red’ looks wonderful planted next to almost-black ‘Verrone’s Obsidian’ for a dramatic and complimentary display which will flower all summer and autumn long.
No surprise this variety holds a prestigious Award of Garden Merit for its enviable attributes.
