Description

Whilst many Cannas are known for their fiery, dazzling reds and oranges, Canna ‘Richard Wallace’ offers the same lush abundance in a fresh, uplifting colourway. Equally breath-taking, this variety flaunts pineapple yellow blooms, like a refreshing pina colada. Zesty, apple-green foliage is reminiscent of tropical banana leaves, providing an ornamental backdrop to the showy flowers. This fast-growing marvel is the perfect centrepiece for summer borders and large containers, adding magnificent height and lively colour. Given plenty of sunlight and rich, moist soil, ‘Richard Wallace’ will flourish all summer long, for an exceptionally long-lasting display of exotic beauty.

Care Guide

Start rhizomes off in a greenhouse or conservatory in spring, planting outdoors after the danger of frost has passed.

Lay the root horizontally, 5cm deep in a large pot filled with potting compost and keep the soil damp.

In late May or early June, choose a sunny location with well-drained, rich soil.  Plant Cannas 10cm deep and 30-45cm apart.

From July to October, robust stems of exotic, vibrant blooms reach heights of 50-125cm depending on variety.

Shorter cultivars are suitable for pots.

Lift rhizomes in autumn or bring pots undercover for the winter months as tender Cannas do not tolerate freezing temperatures.
