Description

The charming flowers of begonia ‘Crispa Marginata White’ are wonderful for adding long-lasting colour and interest to summer containers, often flowering until the first frosts in late autumn.

Iridescent white petals sparkle in dappled sunlight, edged with a puckered, lipstick-red trim.  A central cluster of golden-yellow stamens adds the finishing, cheerful touch to each delightful bloom.

Perfect for pots, hanging baskets and window-boxes.  Plant en masse for impact or combine with mixed begonias and bedding for a colourful, summer-long show.

Care Guide

Begonia tubers should be started in March or April, in a cold frame or greenhouse.

Choose a pot with a 20cm diameter and several holes in the bottom for drainage.  Fill it with rich, good quality compost, leaving a 5cm gap from the rim.  Plant your Begonia tuber with the hollow side uppermost, ensuring it sits 2.5cm below the soil surface.  Water consistently, keeping the soil evenly moist, but not waterlogged. Place the pot undercover, in a shaded area with temperatures around 18-24°C and shoots will soon start to appear.

Once the danger of frost has passed, usually around the beginning of June, Begonias can be planted out.

Begonias will reach a height of 30-45cm, boasting vibrant, showy blooms ideal for patio containers and hanging baskets.

In October, lift the tubers, remove faded foliage and store in a frost-free place, in dry compost or wood shavings.
