Description

With a spectacular assortment of Tigridia varieties, our ‘Pavonia Mixed’ selection will create an astonishing, exotic display in your garden. With blooms ranging from pearlescent white to shocking pink, and from lemon yellow to scarlet red, this carefully curated collection is an extravaganza of vibrant colour. Each flower features three broad outer petals surrounding a bowl-shaped inner section, adorned with ornate maroon markings. Otherwise known as the ‘Peacock Flower’, Tigridia provides a showstopping focal point for patio planters, conservatories, and greenhouses. Overwinter the half-hardy bulbs in a frost-free location and they will return triumphantly the following season.

Care Guide

Semi-hardy Tigridia should ideally be started off indoors, in a greenhouse in spring.  Plant the bulbs in pots of multi-purpose compost with added grit at a depth of 7.5cm below the soil.

Grow undercover for the entire season, or plant out in late spring into a bed of fertile, well-drained soil in full sun.  Known as Mexican shell flowers, Tigridia look wonderful in groups, providing a colourful summer show.

Provide consistent watering throughout the growing period, ensuring the soil stays moderately moist.  Allow the soil to dry out once flowering has finished, before lifting the bulbs in autumn and storing over winter in a frost-free place.
