Crinum Powellii Album
M6153
Description
Distinguished, regal blooms of alabaster white characterise Crinum ‘Powelii Album’, providing a sophisticated late summer and autumn display. This white-flowering form of the much-celebrated hybrid ‘Powelii’ is ideal for a moonlight garden and white planting scheme, where the luminous petals will sparkle. Held aloft above lush, strap-like foliage, the large, swan-like flowers have a chic, refined air and a delightful scent. Be patient and allow these sizeable bulbs a year or two to establish, and you will be rewarded with up to 8 flowers per stem. These lily-like blooms make outstanding cut flowers for stylish arrangements in your home.
Care Guide
Requires full sun and a sheltered, south-facing location.
Plant the large bulbs with their necks showing above soil level in well-drained, moisture retentive soil, spacing 45cm apart.
Provide consistent watering, ensuring soil stays moderately damp after planting and throughout the growing season.
Large, trumpet-shaped blooms are produced from July to September on straight, strong stems 75-100cm tall.
Mulch with spent compost or straw during winter and avoid disturbing Crinum bulbs once planted.
