Description

Tulips Do the Opening Act… Before These Take the Stage.

Stand back from your border in late May. There may be plenty of colour, yet something feels missing. Your early bulbs are already past their best. Taller stems are flopping into gaps. The once bright shades are fading. Most of us plant for the start of spring. Few plant for the middle of spring.

This is the time for Ranunculus Picotee.

Buds rise on strong stems, tight as small fists. Then layers of petals begin to open. Not slender petals, but dense folds, each edged in deeper colour. Picotee Café shows cream lined with coffee-coloured hues. Picotee Pink holds a clean rose outline around a soft blush. Picotee Orange carries a rich zesty rim along every curve.

Those sumptuous flowers bring a touch of panache to your planting. From a few steps back, your borders now look stylish rather than busy. In a pot by the door, blooms sit upright and self-contained. After rain, petals keep form. Indoors, cut stems last well without collapsing by day three.

This offer is for THIRTY top sized corms 5/6cm Picotee Ranunculus (10 x Café, 10 x Orange & 10 x Pink). Retail price for these top-quality corms normally £24.25 with postage. Your price £13.30 with FREE postage (only whilst stocks last)

You might have wondered whether ranunculi’s are troublesome to grow. Truth is, they ask for little more than sun and sharp drainage. Soak corms briefly before planting. Set claws downward. Keep soil lightly moist while growth establishes. After this, your work is done.

This collection brings 10 corms of each shade, 30 in total, individually bagged and clearly labelled. No muddle once planting begins. When your early spring border begins to thin out, Ranuculus Picotee step forward strong and proud.

If you are one of the many hundreds of thousands of gardeners whose spring borders fade sooner than they would like, here lies your answer.

Three Picotee shades. Thirty corms. Top-sized. Top Quality. From de Jager.
Your springtime giving you pleasure for longer.

Delivery end of March the perfect time for planting.

Care Guide

Best planted under glass or in a polytunnel in autumn, for overwintering and blooming the following spring.  Can also be started off outdoors in spring.

Soak the spider-like tubers in water for several hours prior to planting. Plant tubers 7-10 cm deep, spaced 15 cm apart into well-drained, fertile soil.

For container grown plants, a mix of good quality multi-purpose compost and grit is ideal. Provide consistent watering, ensuring soil remains moderately damp at all times. Ranunculus are susceptible to mildew if they are allowed to dry out, or rot if they are kept too wet.

Grow in a position in full sun and feed with high-potash fertiliser weekly when buds start to appear. Pick regularly as wonderful cut flowers.
