Trumpet Lilium Regale Extra Large
L3299
Description
These 'extra large' bulbs give a more dramatic display sooner, usually the first choice for a serious lily grower. Bulbs measure 22-24 cm (circumference).
Raspberry-pink buds crack open to reveal pure white flowers, with a glowing butter-yellow throat and ruby on the outside of the trumpet. Trumpet-Shaped Lily ‘Regale’ flowers from July to late summer.
A divine and showy lily, sometimes known as the Royal or King’s lily, brings a regal feel to garden borders and floral arrangements. The large flowers of trumpet-shaped lilium 'Regale' point down and outwards, emitting a heavenly perfume as they bloom.
A superior lily to be enjoyed both in the garden, and in the home. Perfect for mixed borders, large containers, and for cutting - Lilium ‘Regale’ has been granted an award of garden merit for excellence by the RHS.
.
Care Guide
To cultivate lilies, choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil, digging a hole 15cm deep. Plant the bulbs 15-23cm apart, ensuring they sit 15cm below the soil surface.
Water the surrounding soil well, maintaining soil moisture until growth emerges. Young shoots may be susceptible to slug damage, so use wildlife-friendly methods such as a top layer of sand to protect emerging growth.
Most Lilies can also be grown in pots – ensure containers are deep and have large drainage holes in the base.
As the majestic stems ascend, they will reach heights of 45-150cm, depending on variety. Support taller cultivars with stakes as they grow.
Use dilute, balanced liquid plant feed every two weeks during the summer.
Spray as soon as you notice the bright red lily beetle or their larvae.
