Rhodohypoxis Mixed
M6711
Description
Like a pick-and-mix of bon-bons, this pleasing blend of Rhodohypoxis combines strawberry, raspberry and vanilla-coloured blooms, delivering a delightfully sweet treat to your garden. Flowering exuberantly for months on end, this compact collection packs a punch despite its bantam size.
Sprinkled above mounds of linear, grassy foliage, the six, starry petals of each bloom overlap seamlessly in the centre, creating an unusual and distinctive form. Planted on free-draining soil in a sunny position, these South African natives will reward you with an abundant display and attractive groundcover.
Tuck Rhodohypoxis 'Mixture' in amongst rockeries, alpine gardens, walls, and containers for a charming show all summer long.
Care Guide
South African native Rhodohypoxis thrive in a sunny, well-drained spot such as an alpine border or rockery. They can also be grown successfully in containers.
Plant the rhizomes 5cm deep, spaced 10cm apart in neutral to acid soil. Water sparingly until in active growth. An abundance of delicate, star-shaped flowers are produced between May and September, depending on variety.
Allow plants to dry out completely when flowering has finished, and the bulbs will lie dormant until the following spring.
Protect bulbs from waterlogging and rotting during the winter months by bringing those grown in pots into a greenhouse or potting shed. In well-drained soil, plants should be fine left in the ground.
