Description
Dark-aubergine foliage sets off the zesty orange single blooms of dahlia ‘Bishop of Oxford’ just perfectly.
A slightly more compact dahlia which packs a punch in containers and pots and requires no staking or support. This brilliant 'Bishop of Oxford' dahlia may be planted in the middle or towards the front of a garden border, to add tropical colour and depth with its wonderful rich foliage and bright blooms.
Extremely floriferous from July until at least October, dahlia ‘Bishop of Oxford’ works well within a rich and sumptuous jewel-toned planting scheme. Each blooms measures 10 cm in diameter and the height of the upright plant is 90 cm.
Dahlias thrive in rich soil, and an application of well rotted manure is most beneficial and these bishop paeony flowered dahlias. de Jager's Dahlia 'Bishop of Oxford' top size, top quaility tubers are supplied polythene bags, in which they may be safely kept until planting time, stored in a cool place.
Care Guide
To grow Dahlias, select a sunny spot with well-drained soil, and dig a 30cm deep hole. Plant the tuber 10cm below the soil surface, spacing multiple tubers 45cm apart, or 90cm for taller varieties. Water consistently, maintaining moist but not saturated soil and protect new shoots from slug damage with eco-friendly methods. Feed plants during the blooming period with liquid plant food. Provide support for stems which will reach 60-90cm tall depending on variety. Enjoy spectacular blooms from late summer until first frosts. Cut or deadhead the flowers regularly for a continually flourishing display. Once blooming has finished, cut back foliage before lifting, drying and storing the tubers in peat-free substitute, in a frost-free place until the following spring.
