Agapanthus Africanus Blue
M5070
Description
Globes of rich sky-blue flowers are borne from June to August on Agapanthus ‘Africanus Blue’, from a bed of strap-like foliage.
Native to South Africa, these members of the lily family are true gems for the summer garden - ideal for large pots and stunning in a mixed border as a gently swaying, bold swathe of colour. Agapanthus ‘Africanus Blue’ flowers are excellent for cutting, with long, strong stems which make them brilliant for arranging as accent flowers.
Although hardy in warmer, southerly regions and coastal areas, we recommend protecting your Agapanthus plants over winter by mulching the crowns, or by bringing containers undercover during the coldest months.
Care Guide
Elegant Agapanthus are best grown in large terracotta pots or containers, in a sunny spot. Fill containers with loam-based soil, enriched with organic matter. Plant rhizomes 20cm deep and 15cm apart, ensuring they rest 5cm below the surface. Maintain soil moisture with regular watering, never allowing soil to become waterlogged. Sturdy stems of spectacular white or blue umbels will reach heights of 60-90cm in late summer. Only re-pot if the plants are pot bound. Half-hardy Agapanthus require crown protection during winter with a thick layer of straw or mulch. In colder regions, containers should be brought undercover for the winter months.

Berlin Giant
M6131
Queen Elizabeth II named Lily of the Valley as her favourite flower – the beautiful, pearl-like ivory bells have featured heavily in royal wedding bouquets, signifying love and fidelity. The distinctive, heady aroma of these humble blooms is often used in luxury perfumes.
Convallaria ‘Berlin Giant’ is an improved strain, with larger blooms and taller stems than the standard varieties, earning itself an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Lily of the Valley pips will quickly naturalise into impressive drifts in the right setting, thriving in shady woodland environments.
The elongated stems of Convallaria ‘Berlin Giant’ make it the ultimate cut flower to fill your home with fragrance.

Mixed
M7504
A stunning, tonal mix of Amarines, designed to enliven autumn gardens and boost potted displays with an injection of pretty colour.
Tall, slender stems produce sprays of refined lily-like flowers in a palette of pinks, from soft blush to bright magenta. Fabulous for cutting, Amarine 'Mixture' with its fine, star-shaped flowers bring a whimsical look to seasonal arrangements.
Thanks to clever cross-breeding, Amarines have been developed by pairing much-loved Nerines and dramatic Amaryllis and have acquired the best attributes from both parents – floral abundance, height and great hardiness.

Sunfield
M5076
Large, spherical heads of cobalt-blue make Agapanthus ‘Sunfield’ a spectacular South African lily for the garden, and for cutting. Flowering for several weeks during July and August, this floriferous late-summer perennial is a true garden gem.
Excellent for adding structure, height and colour to garden borders, the blooms of Agapanthus ‘Sunfield’ are also exceptionally pretty up close, with dark-blue buds and striped, trumpet-like flowers. One of the largest agapanthus.
Great for large feature pots and mixed herbaceous borders, in modern and traditional gardens.
