65 Percent Off Nine Nerine Bowdenii including Very Rare Varieties

Description
Rare Award-Winning bulbs for gardeners who enjoy being silently proud.
There is a certain hesitation I often find among even seasoned gardeners when Nerines are mentioned. Many think these beautiful plants “won’t take here,” or “too delicate for our weather.” I once thought the same. Yet each autumn, when most gardens begin their slow retreat, Nerines rise - unbothered by the season’s decline. Slender stems. Petals like silk caught mid-motion. Colour when colour is scarce. Nerines offer you a quiet defiance.
For this reason, I have set aside a small number of collections consisting of three award winning varieties as each holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Two of the varieties are the rarest Nerines you may ever find. You receive:
THREE x Nerine bowdenii (14/+cm bulbs), TWO x Nerine bowdenii “Like a Virgin”, (12/+cm bulbs), TWO x Nerine bowdenii “Pearls of Cherry” (12/+cm bulbs). SEVEN bulbs in total. Individually, this collection retails at £53.11 with p&p.
For our loyal de Jager customers your complete curated collection of these award-winning Seven Nerines, including four bulbs of the rarest varieties, is £18.50, delivered.
If you have never grown Nerines, perhaps reluctance comes from unfamiliarity.
Nerine bowdenii
Asks for very little. A sunny position. Soil which does not cling too tightly. In return, bowdenii gives a soft pink spectacle when nearly everything else has finished their displays. This much-loved variety Nerine 'Bowdenii' is the hardiest of all and has earned an RHS Award of Garden Merit for vigour and reliability. Snip a few stems to enjoy indoors just as other garden blooms are becoming scarce.
"Like a Virgin" (rare variety)
Clean, crisp white, almost luminous bloom which seems to carry the last of the summer’s light. Nerine bowdenii ‘Like a Virgin’ is a beautifully refined perennial, celebrated for these pure-white flowers. Each flower features gracefully recurved petals which shimmer in the soft autumn sun. Also holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit
“Pearls of Cherry” (very rare variety)
ONE “Pearls of Cherry” alone, retails for £12.50 – Rich, deep, cherry red, with a presence which stops one mid-step. Nerine bowdenii ‘Pearls of Cherry’ brings its lively splash of cherry rose-pink to the autumn garden, unfurling elegant clusters of slender, curling petals which glow with warmth as the season cools. Another top plant which holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit
These are not the sorts of bulbs you stumble upon casually. These are unique. Sought by professionals. Grown by those who enjoy possessing something a little beyond the ordinary.
As autumn approaches, when other gardeners are watching their gardens fade, you may find yours just beginning to shine. If a part of you feels your garden deserves one last moment of beauty before the season turns… this may be the one addition you will wonder the reason you waited so long to grow…and Nerines get better year after year.
Delivered to your door within 7-10 days, ready for immediate planting.
Care Guide
Nerines can be grown in pots or in the ground. Either way, a sunny location is necessary for these autumn flowering bulbs, ideally against a south-facing wall.
Plant the bulbs in spring 10 cm apart into well-drained, fertile soil. Ensure the neck of each bulb sits just above the surface of your soil as this will promote flourishing blooms. For container planting, use an equal mix of loam based potting compost and multi-purpose compost.
In colder regions, mulch the area around your plants after flowering to provide winter protection. Nerines resent root disturbance, so try not to move them once settled. Only lift and divide after several years if flowering begins to diminish.
