Description

Arisaema 'Tortuosum' is a captivating Himalayan species that brings height, elegance, and a touch of the unexpected to shaded gardens. The spathe itself is typically green to olive with soft stripes or mottling, curving gracefully around the base of the towering spadix.

Known as the Whipcord Cobra Lily, Arisaema 'Tortuosum' stands apart from other varieties for its extraordinary flower, a tall, upright spathe crowned by a very long, narrow spadix that rises dramatically above the hood. The effect is architectural, surreal, and instantly eye-catching.

Care Guide

Plant Arisaema in a cool, shaded location, in well-drained, rich soil. Tubers should be nestled in 15-25cm deep and spaced 15-20cm apart. Soil should be consistently moist without becoming waterlogged as the tubers are susceptible to rot. These intriguing woodland dwellers produce distinctive and unique hooded blooms, reaching heights of 40-60cm from June to September. Apply mulch around the plants in late autumn to protect Arisaema from frost.
