Rounded umbels of pretty, pure white flowers with yellow anthers grace Agapanthus ‘Duivenbrugge White’ from June to August. Sometimes referred to as Agapanthus ‘Icicles’, this hardy perennial brings a sophisticated touch to planting schemes - its architectural looks are particularly striking in a simple green and white design.
Agapanthus ‘Duivenbrugge White’ tall and strong stems make it an excellent agapanthus for cutting. A single stem displayed in a tall, narrow vase is a simple, yet arresting sight.
Elegant Agapanthus are best grown in large terracotta pots or containers, in a sunny spot. Fill containers with loam-based soil, enriched with organic matter. Plant rhizomes 20cm deep and 15cm apart, ensuring they rest 5cm below the surface. Maintain soil moisture with regular watering, never allowing soil to become waterlogged. Sturdy stems of spectacular white or blue umbels will reach heights of 60-90cm in late summer. Only re-pot if the plants are pot bound. Half-hardy Agapanthus require crown protection during winter with a thick layer of straw or mulch. In colder regions, containers should be brought undercover for the winter months.

The 2nd Baron Rothschild, credited with bringing this eye-catching bloom from Africa, was an unconventional character famed for harnessing four zebras to a carriage and driving them to Buckingham Palace.
Gloriosa ‘Rothschildiana’ is as eccentric and extraordinary as its namesake. Otherwise known as the ‘Flame or Glory Lily’, this supremely popular variety is fiery scarlet, edged by a flicker of yellow. The elongated, crimped petals curve dramatically backwards, revealing lime green stamens which stretch out beneath.
This tropical, Gloriosa ‘Rothschildiana’, tendrilled vine will quickly clamber up a support to create a spectacular summer display for a sunny position, glasshouse, or conservatory.
