Achimenes Peach Blossom

(inc. 20.0% VAT)

Soft-pink flowers with a vibrant pink eye smother the foliage of Achimenes ‘Peach Blossom’ during the summer months.

This pretty, tender perennial is a relative of the African Violet and can be grown outside during the summer months – ideal for hanging baskets and patio containers.  It can also be grown as a houseplant, conservatory or greenhouse specimen.

The showy, trumpet-shaped flowers bloom on short orange-pink stems, from the leaf axils of attractive, tumbling foliage.

Care Guide

Achimenes are low-maintenance perennials, perfect for summer hanging baskets and containers. They are native to Central and South America and are related to African Violets and Gloxinias. For thriving plants, choose a bright, partially shaded location with well-drained soil. Plant tubers 5cm deep and 10cm apart. Ensure soil is consistently moist but not waterlogged and feed with a high potash fertiliser every 10 days during the flowering season (usually May - September). Expect dainty stems to reach 15-30cm in height. Admire a continuous profusion of charming, vibrant blooms, each measuring 3-5cm in diameter, over the summer. Once flowering has finished, remove old growth, lift and overwinter tubers in dry compost in a frost-free place.
