Begonias Frimbriata Mixed
A flamboyant mix of bold, bright begonias - ideal for creating colourful summer containers.
Fimbriata begonias are popular thanks to their abundant supply of pretty, ruffled blooms with crinkled petals and easy-going nature.
This collection will flower reliably from late spring until autumn in rich shades of red, pink, orange and yellow. We have also included a beautiful, snow-white variety in this mix, which enhances the vibrant colours and softens the palette when planted en masse.
Perfect for large feature pots, window-boxes, and lush hanging baskets.
Begonia tubers should be started in March or April, in a cold frame or greenhouse.
Choose a pot with a 20cm diameter and several holes in the bottom for drainage. Fill it with rich, good quality compost, leaving a 5cm gap from the rim. Plant your Begonia tuber with the hollow side uppermost, ensuring it sits 2.5cm below the soil surface. Water consistently, keeping the soil evenly moist, but not waterlogged. Place the pot undercover, in a shaded area with temperatures around 18-24°C and shoots will soon start to appear.
Once the danger of frost has passed, usually around the beginning of June, Begonias can be planted out.
Begonias will reach a height of 30-45cm, boasting vibrant, showy blooms ideal for patio containers and hanging baskets.
In October, lift the tubers, remove faded foliage and store in a frost-free place, in dry compost or wood shavings.
