Ruffled Gladioli Tarantella
G1004
Description
The spotless flowers of gladioli ‘Tarantella’ resemble crisp, freshly laundered linen, hanging out on the line in the sunshine. The pristine petals are neatly pleated, like immaculately pressed folds. Bright white blooms reflect the light and create a feeling of freshness and elegance against lush green foliage. With columns of blooms rising to 100cm, the structural, upright form will bring a vertical focal point to borders and container displays. Snip stems just as the lower buds open for long-lasting and sophisticated floral arrangements and bouquets. Plant a handful of corms every few weeks in spring for a staggered spectacle throughout the summer months.
Care Guide
To cultivate Gladioli, choose a sunny site with well-drained, well-manured garden soil. Dig a trench 15cm deep and place the corms 10-15cm apart, covering with soil and ensuring they sit 5cm below the surface. Water regularly, maintaining soil moisture until growth is established, and during hot, dry spells of weather. Stagger planting at two-week intervals to ensure continuous flowering over a long period. Expect stately, colourful spikes reaching 60-90cm in height which many require staking for support. The smaller variety ‘Glamini’ Gladioli will reach a maximum height of 50cm.
