Description

The Pleasure Of Discovering You Planned Ahead

Most bulbs are bought with a picture in mind. You see the photograph. You imagine the colour. You find space for them. Alliums are bought for different reasons. Every garden has moments when plenty is growing, yet something feels missing. The plants are healthy. The border is full. But the eye has nowhere to rest. Everything occupies the same layer. Then the alliums arrive.

Not at the front of the border and not hidden within it. They rise above it. A few feet of stem carries each flower head into the air, where it catches the sun and enhances  the planting beneath. One sphere can shine a light on a surprising amount of garden.

This collection has been chosen with this job in mind.

FIFTY bulbs across six varieties. 10 x Sphaerocephalon, 10 x Moly Jeannine,5 x Purple Sensation, 10 x Cameleon, 5 x  Atropurpureum, 10 x Caeruleum.

FIFTY allium bulbs would usually cost £31.95 including postage. Our price is £17.55 with free delivery, a saving of 45%.

Sphaerocephalon extends the performance into summer, threading its burgundy drumsticks through the border,  Moly Jeannine brings yellow where it matters most, Purple Sensation provides bold structure, Cameleon offers variation in both structure and form. Atropurpureum adds depth, and  Caeruleum introduces clear blue amongst the purples.

Good gardeners always return to alliums. Not because they are difficult. Not because they are rare. Because they do a job that few other plants can do.

Plant these this autumn and there will be long stretches when you give them no thought at all.

Then one day next year you will walk into the garden and notice your border feels complete.

Not fuller. Complete.

Delivered by the end of September, while next year's garden is still taking shape in your imagination.

Care Guide

Plant in rich, well-drained soil. Larger bulbs should be planted 10 cm deep and the smaller ones 5 cm deep; they may be left undisturbed for many years.
