Trillium Erectum
M6812
Description
Trillium Erectum produces rich reddish-purple to deep purple flowers above fresh pale green foliage, creating a striking woodland display in spring. The elegant blooms of Trillium erectum rise neatly above the leaves, bringing natural charm and subtle drama to shaded borders, woodland gardens, and moisture-retentive planting schemes.
A highly regarded and reliable variety, Trillium Erectum thrives in humus-rich soil with dappled shade, where it gradually forms attractive clumps and returns year after year with refined seasonal beauty.
Care Guide
Grow Trillium in a shaded, well-drained area with neutral to acid soil. Woodland areas where the soil is naturally moist and rich in leaf mould suit these unusual plants best. Plant the corms 7.5 cm deep, spaced 30 cm apart in the soil. Provide consistent watering, ensuring the soil stays evenly damp.
May be slow to establish, however Trillium are well worth the wait for their lush carpets of exquisite, marbled foliage and large 3-petalled flowers in early summer.
An annual mulch with leaf mould will feed the plants sufficiently, retain soil moisture levels and help to suppress weeds.
