Tulip Species Honky Tonk
T1033
Description
Like the lively country music of the same name, Tulip ‘Honky Tonk’ is an upbeat, sprightly tulip to put a spring in your step. Flutes of cheerful yellow blooms are blushed with soft pink, opening in the warmth of spring sunshine, and closing to a neat point by night. This Species variety multiplies well and is ideal for naturalising amongst grass, with its green-blue foliage featuring a delicately waved edge.
A compact habit means these blooms are equally suited to brightening containers and edging borders. The RHS have honoured tulipa ‘Honky Tonk’ with an Award of Garden Merit, the seal of approval for garden performance.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.

Sylvestris
T1009
Otherwise known as the ‘woodland’ tulip, ‘Sylvestris’ is the original native tulip – as such, it can be relied upon to flourish with minimal input. Sweetly scented, canary yellow blooms are streaked with faint brushstrokes of dark green. Beginning as refined, pointed buds with elegantly curling tips, the petals open during the day to catch the sun’s rays.
Tolerant of dappled shade and a range of soil conditions, the versatile Tulip Species ‘Sylvestris’ is suitable for containers, rockeries, and borders. This wild variety is exceptional for naturalising amongst lawns, orchards, under shrubs, and around woodland edges, where it will multiply with abandon.

Crown of Negrita
T3004
Crown Tulip ‘Negita’ produces deep plum-purple blooms with a rich velvety finish, creating a dramatic and luxurious spring display. The intense colouring of tulip ‘Negita’ brings depth, contrast, and a sense of mystery to borders, containers, and feature planting schemes, where its elegant upright form stands out beautifully among lighter companion flowers.
Bold yet refined, this striking variety flowers on strong stems through spring and adds a sophisticated touch to both contemporary and classic garden designs.

Clusiana Cynthia
T1002
Otherwise known as the ‘golden lady tulip’, ‘Clusiana Cynthia’ is a petite, gilded beauty, exuding elegance and style. Flashes of raspberry red and chartreuse green are painted on a buttercup yellow background. Elongated, pointed buds open to fluted, star-shaped blooms on slender stems above fine foliage.
Despite a refined appearance, this Species Tulip Clusiana Cynthia is resilient and vigorous, boasting the accolade of an RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliability in the garden. These enchanting blooms are perfect for filling patio pots for an early display, and to dot amongst grass and borders for a tapestry of colour as the bulbs gradually naturalise.
