Apricot Parrot Tulip
T1619
Description
Tulip ‘Apricot Parrot’ produces enormous, striking peach blooms to add colourful flamboyance to the late spring garden. Apricot-pink petals unfurl and gently curl with rippling, feathered edges and green and ivory streaks.
These attention-demanding parrot tulips have been granted an Award of Garden Merit by the RHS and are excellent for cutting and adding a touch of glamour to floral displays. Plant 'Apricot Parrot' tulip en masse in garden beds, borders and pots for a spectacular show in May.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
