Tulip Species Little Beauty
T1004
Description
Growing wild in abundance on the mountains of Turkey, the blooms of Species Tulip ‘Little Beauty’ live up to their name. Radiant petals of cerise pink encircle a feathered, slate blue centre which blurs into a smudged white margin.
Each ornate flower is a captivating work of art. Despite its delicate appearance, tulipa ‘Little Beauty’ is one of the most steadfastly perennial tulips and naturalises enthusiastically to form wonderful drifts of colour. Such reliability and vigour have earnt this botanical tulip the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit. A tremendous variety for planting in swathes amongst lawns, rockeries, and borders, and for bringing a touch of glamour to spring pots.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.

White Pearl
H2854
A classic and timeless spring bloom - Hyacinth ‘White Pearl’ is a popular bulb for forcing, bringing heady scent and natural freshness into the home with their ruffled ivory spikes.
These specially prepared bulbs have been treated to flower indoors at Christmastime, if potted up in September and kept in a cool, dark space until early December when they can be moved into their final position to be enjoyed. Plant the bulbs in a container such as a basket or bowl with the top third of the bulb showing above soil level.
Hyacinth ‘White Pearl’ can also be forced in water. Place a prepared bulb in the top of a hyacinth vase, with the base sitting just above, but not touching the water level. Roots will rapidly form, seeking out hydration below before glossy stems elongate and burst into flower.
de Jager's top quality, top size bulbs really make a huge difference in terms of flowering.

Sylvestris
T1009
Otherwise known as the ‘woodland’ tulip, ‘Sylvestris’ is the original native tulip – as such, it can be relied upon to flourish with minimal input. Sweetly scented, canary yellow blooms are streaked with faint brushstrokes of dark green. Beginning as refined, pointed buds with elegantly curling tips, the petals open during the day to catch the sun’s rays.
Tolerant of dappled shade and a range of soil conditions, the versatile Tulip Species ‘Sylvestris’ is suitable for containers, rockeries, and borders. This wild variety is exceptional for naturalising amongst lawns, orchards, under shrubs, and around woodland edges, where it will multiply with abandon.
