Amaryllis Lemon Star
M5546
Description
Large, trumpet-shaped blooms unfurl in creamy lemon shades with green undertones. Grown indoors, Amaryllis Lemon Star requires only warmth and light for towering stems and exotic flowers.
South African Hippeastrum, commonly referred to as Amaryllis, are often grown to flower at Christmas, and Amaryllis Lemon Star will certainly bring a seasonal feel to the home with its festive colouring and bold looks.
Each bulb will produce two stems, each holding up to 5 spectacular blooms. Water sparingly until growth appears.
A bright winter performer, ideal for festive displays or dramatic table centrepieces.
de Jager's top quality, top size bulbs really make a huge difference in terms of flowering.
Care Guide
Before planting soak lower part of bulb and roots in warm water for a few hours. Hippeastrum bulbs should flower approximately six to eight weeks after planting and are best planted between October and January.
Use a peat-free John Innes No.2 or multipurpose compost and choose a pot just slightly larger than the bulb. Position the bulb with roughly one-third exposed above the compost surface. Place pots in a bright warm room at approximately 21°C (70°F) to encourage strong growth. Water lightly at first, increasing gradually once leaves begin to appear. Keep the compost lightly moist but never waterlogged, and avoid leaving excess water in saucers.
Turn the pot regularly so the flower stem develops evenly towards the light, and support taller varieties if needed. Once the flowers open, moving the plant to a cooler room around 15–18°C (60–65°F) will help extend the display and keep blooms looking fresh for longer.

Elwesii Mount Everest
M5448
Often first to flower during late winter, the clumps of delicate, pure white blooms set off by silvery-green foliage make Galanthus elwesii Mount Everest a must-have for the garden.
Standing 20cm tall, these snowdrop elwesii Mount Everest are a little larger than most varieties and will naturalise with ease in the border or amongst grass. Galanthus thrive in moist conditions and humus-rich, well-drained soil. A spot in dappled shade, beneath mature, deciduous trees and shrubs is perfect.
Snowdrops are also happy to be grown in pots. Top the earth with moss for a natural display and place the containers in a sheltered position.

Ida-Maia
M5291
Unusual and exotic Dichelostemma ‘Ida-Maia’ is a wonderful plant to bring punchy colour and interesting texture to the front of a garden border or large feature container. Loose clusters of tubular crimson flowers with reflexed, lime-green tips and a ruffle of cream, dangle from stems up to 60cm tall.

Dichelostemma ‘Ida-Maia’ flowers appear during June and July and are highly attractive to bees and pollinators.
