One of the finest cultivars of Camassia, ‘Leichtlinii Caerulea’ bears slender stems of deep mauve-blue flowers during June.
Wonderful for bringing an enchanting look to early summer gardens with its pretty, statuesque spires, this charming camassia Leichtlinii Caeruleas is easy to grow and thrives in moisture-retentive soil, in sun or dappled shade. Wild meadow areas suit Camassias well, where the bulbs will naturalise freely amongst long grass. Plant in small groups or ribbons for striking effect.
The nectar-rich, long-lasting flowers are loved by bees and pollinators and make fabulous cut flowers, bringing sparkle and colour to bouquets and arrangements.
Thrives in wet and heavy soil, although prolonged water-logging 4 throughout the winter can lead to rotting. Requires sun or partial shade. Plant 10 cm deep, 15 cm apart.
