Viridiflora Tulip ‘Purple Dance’ produces elegant deep purple petals blending into fresh green bases, creating a beautifully layered effect that subtly changes with shifting spring light. The refined blooms of tulip ‘Purple Dance’ stand upright through May, bringing structure, contrast, and sophisticated colour to borders and seasonal planting schemes.
With strong stems and exceptionally long-lasting flowers, this reliable variety performs beautifully in both formal and naturalistic gardens.
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
