Kaufmanniana Tulip Chopin
T1090
Description
A gentle melody in bloom - creamy-white fading to lemon, each petal edged with a detailed red line. As early as March, these flowers rise with quiet intensity. Kaufmanniana tulip Chopin is low-growing, dependable, and ideal for rockeries or front borders.
Like the composer himself, ‘Chopin’ speaks softly but leaves a lasting impression on all who listen.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
