Description

Fritillaria Imperialis ‘Aureomarginata’ combines bold architectural form with richly coloured spring flowers, producing stout upright stems topped with pendulous ember-orange blooms beneath a crown of lance-shaped leaves edged in creamy white. Flowering through April, the dramatic display of Fritillaria imperialis ‘Aureomarginata’ brings height, structure, and vibrant seasonal colour to borders and feature planting areas.

Best grown in rich, fertile soil with plenty of spring sunshine, this striking Crown Imperial thrives in well-drained positions where its imposing silhouette can be fully appreciated. A superb focal point for spring gardens, it returns year after year with increasing presence and character.

Care Guide

Failing to flower after the first year is due to a lack of potash fertiliser, which is necessary for spurring bloom formation for the following year’s flowering.

Plant large bulbs 15 cm deep and small bulbs 8 cm deep, in well-drained soil.

Plant bulbs on their side to prevent water getting into the hollow crown.
