Fifty Percent Off Thirty Hardy Gladiolus

Description
Hardy Gladiolus. Enjoy them in your garden. Then bring some indoors.
With thirty corms in this collection, you can enjoy these graceful Hardy Gladiolus outside and still have stems to cut for the house. This, for me, is one of the pleasures of growing this form of Gladiolus. The flower can look wonderful in your garden in the morning and be sitting in a vase on your table by afternoon.
For your pleasure, we at de Jager have chosen five varieties which give you plenty of contrast when they flower: ‘Colvillii Albus’, ‘Charming Lady’, ‘Atom’, ‘Nathalie’ and ‘Nymph’. There are whites, pinks, soft lilac, with the richer red-orange of ‘Atom’ bringing something quite different to the collection.
Colvillii Albus produces elegant pure white flowers delicately marked with soft green-yellow veining, creating a fresh and refined summer display. Also referred to as ‘The Bride’, graceful blooms of Gladiolus ‘Albus’ rise on slender stems above narrow foliage, bringing lightness and understated beauty to sunny borders, cottage gardens, and cutting beds.
Charming Lady is elegant with slender spikes of pale lilac-pink flowers from midsummer onwards, bringing soft colour and graceful structure to sunny borders. More compact than traditional gladioli, the refined blooms of Gladiolus ‘Charming Lady’ are perfect for filling mid-height planting gaps while still delivering excellent presence and movement in the garden.
Atom dazzles with showy blooms of electric orange-red. Gladiolus ‘Atom’ is an exhilarating addition to your summer display. Each petal smoulders with intense colour, defined and highlighted by a silvery white outline. These jaw-dropping flowers are borne on impressive spikes, flanked by sword-like foliage.
Nathalie is an adorable shade of pale, cherry blossom pink, with a drop of dark crimson on the lower petals. Gladioli are often called ‘Painted Ladies’, and ‘Nathalie’ seems all made-up with a slick of red lipstick, and a dab of blusher on her cheeks. Carefully bred to be compact, strong, and straight.
Nymph is a sweet, early-flowering variety of dwarf Gladiolus. ‘Nanus Nymph’ produces compact spikes of charming blooms on stems 50-60 cm tall and is one of the most beautiful cultivars available. The flowers are whitish pink, with creamy blotches and china-rose markings on the petals. Gladioli prefer a spot in full sun without too much competition from surrounding plants. Fully hardy and perennial.
Care Guide
For early flowering, hardy Gladiolus, choose a warm and sunny, well-drained location. Plant corms with the pointy side up, 8-10 cm deep and 15 cm apart in the soil. Provide consistent watering after planting and during dry spells, ensuring soil remains moderately moist.
Plant corms at intervals, every two weeks from spring until early summer for a staggered display. After flowering, remove spent and withered stalks and foliage and apply a mulch to the soil in late autumn.
