Greigii Tulip Pinocchio
T1188
Description
Greigii Tulip ‘Pinocchio’ is a long-standing favourite, producing vibrant vermillion-red flowers edged with crisp ivory white for a bold and cheerful spring display. The striking blooms of tulip ‘Pinocchio’ open wide in sunshine, bringing bright colour and strong contrast to borders, containers, and rock gardens.
Its attractively mottled foliage adds extra ornamental interest even before flowering, making this compact variety especially effective in smaller spaces and front-of-border planting schemes. Reliable and full of character, it brings lively colour to the early spring garden.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
