Description

Single late flowering tulips are well worth waiting for, blooming just before the summer garden wakes up and adding a splash of colour and structure to garden beds and containers.

Our ‘May Flowering Tulip Mixture’ contains a stately mix of named and award-winning varieties, all excellent for cutting thanks to their long stem length.  This colourful tulip assortment will bloom in the classic cup or goblet-shape in a rainbow of colours and pretty markings.

Long lasting, both in the garden and in the vase.  Plant as a succession to early and mid-season tulips and spring bulbs.

Care Guide

October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.

Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade.  Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.

After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
