T1759
Description
Providing an elegant display in the garden from the latter part of April and throughout May, tulip ‘Mariette’ is a graceful-looking lily-flowered tulip. Fuchsia-pink petals appear satin-like in texture and have soft rose margins.
This dreamy tulip looks stunning combined with soft, pale pinks and deep aubergine tulips in the border and also marries well with warm apricot and coral tones. Lily Flowering Tulip 'Mariette' perfect for cutting and adding colourful curves to spring flower designs.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
