Lily Flowering Tulip Merlot
T1776
Description
A rich, deep-plum tulip, perfect for the jewel garden. Lily Flowering Tulip ‘Merlot’ blooms wide open in full sun, unfolding up its star-shaped, luxurious violet flowers to expose powdery anthers and a pale-lemon pistil to passing bees and pollinators.
This lavish, lily-flowered tulip 'Merlot' blooms on tall stems, adding grace and structure to borders and pots during May. Combine with vivid tulips of differing shapes both in the garden and in the vase for a colourful, textural spring blend.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.

Angelique
T1812
Often mistaken for a fragrant, ruffled paeony rather than a tulip, ‘Angelique’ is a romantic-looking, soft-pink paeony-tulip.
The apple-blossom pink blooms open fully during April and May and make stunning cut flowers for pretty spring arrangements. Cut or pull the stems before buds fully open for a long vase-life.
Awarded the prestigious Award of Garden Merit by the RHS, tulip ‘Angelique’ is a remarkable tulip which looks particularly effective when the bulbs are nestled closely together in pots and planted as a drift in the border.
Combine with fellow ice-cream shades for an angelic display, or with dark purple hues for delectable contrast.
