Description

A superior mixture of Parrot Tulips for an alluring and colourful late spring display.

Parrot tulips are named as such due to their exotic looking petals which resemble the ruffled plumage of tropical birds. In a glorious cocktail of rich and pastel hues, this inspirational collection can be planted to inject colour and texture into garden beds and borders and are also perfect for containers.

Excellent for cutting and adding flounce and interest to floral designs. Just one or two of these spectacular blooms will enhance an arrangement and evoke an artistic ‘Dutch Master’ feel within displays.

Care Guide

October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.

Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade.  Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.

After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
