Allium Karataviense
M5010
Description
An unusual, low-growing Allium, ‘Karataviense’ adds bold structure and texture at the forefront of garden borders and is great for container planting.
Large globular heads of muted creamy-lavender flowers nestle amongst fleshy, flat and glaucous leaves with red margins. Foliage remains on the plants for most of the year, providing a long season of interest.
Stout and sturdy, purple-grey stems rise to just 20cm tall, making this heirloom Allium ideal for pots, rockeries, and gravel gardens. Best planted near the edge of a border or container where they can’t be missed.
Care Guide
Plant in rich, well-drained soil.
The larger bulbs should be planted 10cm (4”) deep and the smaller ones 5cm (2”) deep; they may be left undisturbed for many years.
