Trillium Luteum
M6814
Description
Three broad leaves mottled with silver support a single, upright yellow-green flower—elegant, understated, and woodland-ready. Thrives in humus-rich shade with steady moisture. Plant once and let nature do the rest.
An ideal perennial for quiet corners beneath deciduous canopies. Trillium Luteum also has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Flowers emerge May into June.
Care Guide
Grow Trillium in a shaded, well-drained area with neutral to acid soil. Woodland areas where the soil is naturally moist and rich in leaf mould suit these unusual plants best.
Plant the corms 7.5cm deep, spaced 30cm apart in the soil. Provide consistent watering, ensuring the soil stays evenly damp.
May be slow to establish, however Trillium are well worth the wait for their lush carpets of exquisite, marbled foliage and large 3-petalled flowers in early summer.
An annual mulch with leaf mould will feed the plants sufficiently, retain soil moisture levels and help to suppress weeds.
