Mid Season Tulip Request
T1401
Description
A complex, unique blend of bronze, claret, mauve and salmon, ‘Request’ is a true colour sensation. Like watching a spectacular sunset, you will find yourself mesmerised by the subtly shifting tones of each bloom. This charismatic mid-season tulip is sure to turn heads, glowing amongst borders and containers. The multi-tonal petals easily compliment many other colour palettes, both in the garden and in the vase. Crowned by pointed, outward-facing petals, this stunning, lily-flowered variety will be a highlight of your spring display.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
