Description
Ixia Marquette enchants with unique sulphur-yellow petals encircling a captivating violet centre. These exquisite blossoms emerge in late spring, illuminating gardens with their unusual and dramatic contrast. As sunlight dances on their petals, Ixia Marquette’s vibrant colours evoke joy and inspire gardeners to embrace this extraordinary beauty.
Care Guide
As members of the Iris family, Ixia thrive in a sunny spot in well-drained soil which is rich in organic matter.
South African Ixia can also be grown in a cool greenhouse or conservatory.
Plant corms 5cm deep, spaced 8-10cm apart in the soil. A mix of compost, leaf mould and sharp sand provides an ideal growing medium for pot grown plants.
Protect from east and northerly winds and ensure soil never becomes waterlogged as this may lead to rotting.
Lift the bulbs in autumn, allowing them to dry out for a day or two before storing in a cool, dry place until the following spring.
