Fringed Tulip ‘Fabio’ produces vivid red flowers edged with a sparkling crystalline yellow fringe, creating a bold and highly decorative spring display. The finely cut petal edges of Fringed Tulip ‘Fabio’ catch the light beautifully, adding texture, contrast, and a slightly frosted appearance to borders, containers, and seasonal bedding schemes.
Compact yet full of impact, this striking variety flowers reliably in mid to late spring and pairs especially well with golden or darker-toned tulips for vibrant garden combinations.
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
