Viridiflora Tulip Spring Green
T1497
Description
Reliable, perennial, and versatile, Viridiflora Tulip ‘Spring Green’ oozes a timeless glamour which fits into virtually any planting scheme or floral arrangement, adding a feathery swoosh of green and white.
The elegant blooms are long lasting and perfect for cutting, so be sure to grow enough to spare a few for the vase. Their classic shape and graceful looks marry well with soft, silvery foliage and pale colours.
Viridiflora tulips are perennial, reappearing every spring with as much gusto as their first year.
Tulip ‘Spring Green’ has been granted the sought-after Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
