Description

Flowering as early as late January in some areas, ‘Rijnveld’s Early Sensation’ brings a cordial splash of colour when our spirits need lifting in winter.  Flared, golden yellow trumpets with slightly paler petals bloom even before stems reach their full height.

Plant near early flowering bulbs such as Snowdrops or Crocus for a cheerful spring show throughout February and into March.

First introduced in 1943, ‘Rijnveld’s Early Sensation’ holds an esteemed Award of Garden Merit from the RHS and will add carpets of colour to a spring garden as they naturalise happily.

Care Guide

Plant Daffodil and Narcissi bulbs in autumn, ideally in mid September to early October to enable roots to establish before a period of cold in winter. A position in full sun or light shade is best and good drainage is essential. Daffodils and Narcissi are long lasting and naturalise well, providing a welcoming display every spring. Ideal for borders, containers, rock gardens and open grass. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep and apart, depending on variety. A good rule of thumb is to plant bulbs 2-3 times their depth. Flowers appear in March and April and should be deadheaded once faded. The foliage should be left to turn yellow and fade naturally on the plant as this helps to feed the bulbs for next year’s blooms.
