Darwin Tulip Sunny Leo
T1578
Description
Sunlit petals, bright as buttercup, rise with fierce serration and pointed flair. Each flower of the tulip Sunny Leo bursts upward on strong, elegant stems reaching over half a metre.
Blooms hold from April through May, glowing in borders and making bold companions for blues or deep reds. A tulip with real theatre.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
