Hardy Gladiolus Charming Lady
M5480
Description
Hardy Gladiolus ‘Charming Lady’ produces elegant slender spikes of pale lilac-pink flowers from midsummer onwards, bringing soft colour and graceful structure to sunny borders. More compact than traditional gladioli, the refined blooms of Gladiolus ‘Charming Lady’ are perfect for filling mid-height planting gaps while still delivering excellent presence and movement in the garden.
Ideal for cutting as well as outdoor displays, this hardy variety thrives in full sun with free-draining soil and performs beautifully among perennials and ornamental grasses. In more exposed positions, light staking will help support the flower stems through summer winds.
Care Guide
For early flowering, hardy Gladiolus, choose a warm and sunny, well-drained location. Plant corms with the pointy side up, 8-10 cm deep and 15 cm apart in the soil. Provide consistent watering after planting and during dry spells, ensuring soil remains moderately moist.
Plant corms at intervals, every two weeks from spring until early summer for a staggered display. After flowering, remove spent and withered stalks and foliage and apply a mulch to the soil in late autumn.
