Description

Dracunculus Vulgaris is a striking tuberous perennial renowned for its enormous deep crimson-maroon flowers, often appearing almost black in certain light. The dramatic hood-like spathe can reach 45–60 cm in length, surrounding a towering blackish-purple central spadix that gives the plant its unforgettable architectural presence.

Perfect for exotic planting schemes and sheltered borders, the bold blooms of Dracunculus Vulgaris create a powerful focal point in late spring and early summer. Combined with its lush divided foliage, this extraordinary plant adds texture, scale, and theatrical character to sunny or lightly shaded garden spaces.

Care Guide

Plant bulbs 5 cm deep and 10 cm apart in well-drained soil, ideally in a warm sheltered position where they can establish and flower freely year after year.
