Description

With luminous, clear yellow petals subtly flecked with crimson and contrasting against a black base, ‘Golden Apeldoorn’ will bring a beacon of sunshine to your garden, even when the skies are grey. The substantial flower heads are anchored by sturdy stems which can withstand wind and rain. Plant in swathes throughout borders and fill containers for brilliant impact. Elongated stems and bright spring colours also make ‘Golden Apeldoorn’ an excellent choice for floral arrangements. Prized for its reliability, this Darwin Hybrid will return again and again in a sunny spot, bringing joy for many years to come.

Care Guide

November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
