Description

Nectaroscordum siculum subsp. Bulgaricum produces elegant nodding bell-shaped flowers in creamy white shades, each petal marked with a distinctive green midrib for striking contrast and detail. Held on long gracefully arching pedicels, the blooms form large loose umbels carrying up to 30 flowers per stem, in early summer.

The gently honey-scented flowers of Nectaroscordum siculum subsp. Bulgaricum bring movement, height, and natural elegance to borders, cottage gardens, and wild-style planting schemes. Thriving in a wide range of sunny garden settings, this unusual ornamental allium adds drama and sophistication while attracting pollinators with its unique and captivating blooms.

Care Guide

Commonly known as Sicilian honey garlic, Nectaroscordum are closely related to Alliums and share many of the same qualities.

Perfect for naturalising in wild, nature-friendly gardens and grassy areas, these unique plants thrive in both sunny and shaded sites.

Plant the bulbs 10cm deep and 20-30 cm apart into any well-drained soil, ensuring the pointed ends face upward. Nectaroscordum can also be grown in containers with drainage holes – place the bulbs more closely together for a bountiful pot display.

Sturdy stems rise to heights of 85 cm in May and June, bearing umbels of dangling, bell-shaped blooms.
