Description

Animated and endearing, the neatly formed, dainty heads of Jonquilla Narcissus ‘Quail’ nod and dance in clusters held on slender stems. The glorious, deep golden hue of this late flowering variety provides striking contrast to other mid-spring bulbs to create a carpet of rich colour. This free-flowering Jonquilla has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit, with the committee describing it as ‘outstanding’. Robust, prolific, and eager to naturalise, ‘Quail’ offers a cheering sign of spring when planted in dramatic drifts amongst lawns and borders. Enjoy clouds of intense fragrance by positioning in containers next to doorways and seating areas.

Care Guide

Plant Daffodil and Narcissi bulbs in autumn, ideally in mid September to early October to enable roots to establish before a period of cold in winter. A position in full sun or light shade is best and good drainage is essential. Daffodils and Narcissi are long lasting and naturalise well, providing a welcoming display every spring. Ideal for borders, containers, rock gardens and open grass. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep and apart, depending on variety. A good rule of thumb is to plant bulbs 2-3 times their depth. Flowers appear in March and April and should be deadheaded once faded. The foliage should be left to turn yellow and fade naturally on the plant as this helps to feed the bulbs for next year’s blooms.
