Tulip Species Lilac Wonder
T1021
Description
Discovered growing in breath-taking swathes on the mountains of Crete, Species Tulip ‘Lilac Wonder’ is a sensational Species tulip. Misty lavender petals spread out to form a bowl-shaped star, disclosing a clearly demarcated, bold yellow heart. The perky, playful, diminutive blooms dance above ribbons of glossy foliage.
This sun-loving variety is well suited to adorning rock gardens, filling gaps at the front of borders, dotting amongst the lawn, and packing into pots. A superb variety for naturalising, providing carpets of colour year after year, tulipa ‘Lilac Wonder’ has received an RHS Award of Garden Merit for dependability and exceptional garden performance.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.

Delft Blue
H2851
Exquisitely scented, star-shaped florets of soft-blue smother the stems of Hyacinth ‘Delft Blue,’ as they burst into bloom, indoors at Christmastime.
Delft Blue holds a prestigious Award of Garden Merit from the RHS for its exceptional qualities.
These specially prepared bulbs are designed to flower during the darkest depths of winter, when colour and scent are most welcome in the home.
Despatched in September, the bulbs should be planted shallowly in bowls or containers, with the green tip and section of bulb above soil level.
Hyacinth ‘Delft Blue’ is also ideal for forcing in water. Place each prepared bulb in the top of a hyacinth vase, with the base sitting above, but not touching water level. Roots will rapidly form, seeking out the water below.
For Christmas flowers, keep your containers in a cool, dark place until the beginning of December when they can be brought out into the light.
de Jager's top quality, top size bulbs really make a huge difference in terms of flowering.
