Darwin Tulip World Friendship
T1569
Description
Originally bred for the World Tulip Summit as a symbol of universal peace and kinship, the primrose blooms of Darwin Tulip ‘World Friendship’ offer a sense of harmony and tranquillity. Whether planted in swathes throughout borders or dotted amongst containers, these Darwin Hybrids provide a gentle glow like a ray of pale dawn sunlight.
The stupendous flower heads are secured by long stems which are steadfast even in wind and rain. These charming tulips make wonderful cut flowers: celebrate the wonder of tulip ‘World Friendship’ by presenting loved ones with a bouquet of these blooms to show them that you care.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.

Lucillae
M5227
Loose spikes of delicate, sky-blue flowers bloom in profusion on Chionodoxa ‘Luciliae’ during February and March. This intricate beauty is the perfect choice to brighten a dull corner of the garden – ideal for rockeries, alpine borders and for planting beneath large shrubs or trees in dappled shade. Chionodoxas are also wonderful for growing in containers as a pretty, low-growing carpet, from which later flowering bulbs such as Tulips can emerge.
