Description

Widely considered to be the ultimate Triumph tulip, the sensational blooms of Mid Season Tulip ‘Negrita’ will bring drama to your spring display with their luxurious, velvety tones and chic silhouette. With petals of the deepest plum purple tinted with beetroot veining, this mesmerising variety is overlaid by a glossy lacquer.

Whilst this mid-season tulip demands attention in the garden, it is also highly sought after as a cut flower – the intense hues add notable sophistication to floral arrangements and bouquets. Renowned for its exceptional perennial qualities, tulip ‘Negrita’ will return each season, enhancing your garden for many years to come.

Care Guide

October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.

Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade.  Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.

After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
