May Flowering Tulip Sorbet
T1687
Description
Curvaceous creamy-white petals with feathered lipstick-red flames adorn long stems on May-flowering tulip ‘Sorbet’ in late spring. A sublime, yet strong tulip for containers and garden borders which boasts a prestigious Award of Garden Merit from the RHS amongst its many accolades.
Plant tulip 'Sorbet' with tulips in similar shades to harmonise in the garden such as bouquet-flowering ‘Belicia’ and fringed white ‘Honeymoon’.
Lovely for cutting and arranging into a vivid and bodacious bouquet.
Care Guide
October to November are the optimum months for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring.
Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20 cm deep, spaced 10-20 cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area.
After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
